Promotional venues include GDS, consortia, direct mail, web, e-mail, travel agent commission check inserts. Or barely anything, in the right market the switch can be done with very little promotion. We've seen it happen. Ask us and we'll explain.

We have seen different properties handle their GDS changes differently.

One property prepared for half a year, worked on it with skill and dedication, spoke with consultants (who advised against the change as it could be an unnecessary disaster) spent lots of money and time and the GDS change went without a hitch to their very one code. They reported no loss of revenue in one of their properties - the one that was previously an independent within a marketing group.

Another property did it all themselves, did it with care and precision, spent lots of money on GDS advertising picked up revenue from the start as well as having extra money to hire another sales manager.

Yet another property did nothing, switched mid year, called their clients themselves, sent out no real notice, did no advertising and lost no revenue.

What is the answer?

Clearly , it is different for each set of circumstances. The point is to be open to all approaches.
